Despite our efforts to control and to reduce costs, we are obliged to increase our rates in 2008 because of the big changes that occurred. Here are a few explanations regarding these changes:
- Less loading room (less room = less offer)
- Constant congestion of the road axes in Switzerland and Europe (less productivity).
- Congestion of the airfreight axes as well as the sea freight axes mainly from Asia to Europe (less offer but more demand).
- Exchange of the “loading material” that has to be managed by the forwarders.
- Increase in fuel costs by all means of transport.
- Global increase of charges (Salaries, training, IT, insurances and other charges related to freight forwarding).
- Extended customs workload transferred on to the Swiss freight forwarders.
The inland trucking charges themselves have increased by 6%.
The other general charges have changed for about 3%. |
