RPLP 2008 (Royalties on Heavy Trucks)

As decided by Berne on September 12th 2007 an increase of the RPLP will be effective starting the first of January 2008.

The RPLP is a tax that is taken on all vehicles of over 3.5 Tons where the value depends on their category, named EURO. The higher the class the less pollutant the truck, we can therefore say that a truck that is EUR1 pollutes more than a vehicle EURO 5. These classes are issued depending on their emissions of pollutant substances (you can see this on the bellow graphics).

This tax is based on the number of kilometres driven and determining weight (tons at max payload), the increased rates will be as follow starting the 1st of January 2008.

  • 3,07 centimes for vehicles classified as EURO 0,1 and 2 (Royalty class 1);
  • 2,66 centimes starting in 2009 for vehicles classified as EURO3 (Royalty class 2) and
  • 2,26 centimes for vehicles classified as EURO 4, 5 et 6 (Royalty class 3).

We can therefore say that a truck of class EURO 3 of 40 tons (total weight) that has run 100’000km will pay 106’400CHF in royalties, or 2.66cts x 100’000kms x 40tons = 10’640’000cts = 106’400CHF.

These increases for 2008 will represent the follow variations from 2007:
EURO 0/1 + 6.6%
EURO 2    +21.8%
EURO 3    +23.7% starting january 2009.
EURO 4/5 +5.1%

The respect of the environment being also one of the big concerns for ATM, all our trucks are EURO 5 (except for one). On the base of the above, you may see that ATM uses the trucks with the lowest emissions.
