Increase in rates announced by the shipping lines

   
 

Several shipping lines have announced that they will increase their rates as of the 1st of July 2009. Under such the Asia – EU Trade should see an increase of 300USD per EQV and the EU – Asia Trafic an increase of 250US.

Maersk Line
plans further freight rate rises to tackle "unacceptable" and "unsustainable" revenues in the Far East to Europe trades.
Rates on Far East services to the Mediterranean and North Europe will rise by US$300/teu on 1 July and a peak season surcharge will also come into force from 1 August until 31 October. The increases apply to all cargo and commodities, including reefers and special equipment.
Services between Europe and the Middle East and South Asia will also be subject to rises of up to $250/teu from 1 July onwards.

CMA CGM
will increase freight rates in the Asia-Europe trade by US$300 per teu on 1 July. The BAF on the Asia to Europe trade will be increased from $281 per teu to $333.
